Under the Narmada Sagar Pariyojana ,the proposal of construction of a dam at Onkareswar was a threat  to the survival of archaeological remains of the area. Among this 'Choubis Avatar Temple' a centrally protected monument at Panthia was likely to be submerged. The temple consists of a square Garbhagriha and a pillared mandapa. Under the deposit work transplantation of the temple was carried out after complete drawing and photo documentation. Dismantling the temple brick by brick and transplanting it to a place 5 km away from its original place was a challenging conservation.
